Hayter, Sydney

The Rev. Sydney J. Hayter, 81, of Bastrop, La., died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in Bastrop.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1921, in MeGarele, Texas, to Sydney Johnson and Maude Case Hayter.
He was raised in Rogers. He was a retired minister and a graduate of Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Okla. He was an evangelist and missionary in Mexico and the Philippines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Hayter; a grandson, Jeffery Hayter; three sisters, Hazel Melear, Alean O’Neal and Mae Craft; and three brothers, Buddy Hayter, Archie Hayter and Tony Hayter.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Stewart Hayter of Bastrop; two daughters, Barbara Olsen of Valley Center, Calif., and Donna Hemborge of Canyon Lake, Calif.; a stepson, Paul Hughes of Wichita, Kan.; two grandsons, Kevin and Travis Hemborge; two granddaughters, Brenda Hayter and Shaina Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Hallie and Dylon Hemborge; a sister, Barbara Platter of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Lewis Hayter of Clovis.
Services were held April 26, 2003, at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop, La.
Brother Billy McBride and Brother Tracy Ferris officiated the services.
Burial was at Simsboro Cemetery in Simsboro, La.
Arrangements were by Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
