Mr. Clarence F. Fritzler, 81, of Creswell, Ore., formerly of Clovis, died Friday, May 23, 2003.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1921, in Bazine, Kan., to Jacob and Mary Lorenz Fritzler.
He graduated from Benson High School in Portland, Ore., in 1942. He joined the Navy where he attained the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. After being discharged he joined the Air Force where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant and was discharged in 1972. His military service included World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He married Ester Meister Norder on Dec. 19, 1944, in Portland. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3015, the Military Order of the Cootie and of Holiday Park Assembly of God in Portland. Following the death of his second wife, Irene Fritzler, in 1993, he left Clovis to move to Independence, Mo., and then to Creswell.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnne Swift; four brothers; and his wife, Irene Fritzler of Clovis.
He is survived by his wife, Esther of Portland; a daughter, Denette Hammond of Creswell, Ore.; a son, Michael Fritzler of Crooked River Ranch in Terrebonne, Ore.; a brother, Roy Fritzler of Portland; a sister, Alvina Dietz of Portland; seven grandchildren; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the VFW National Children’s Home, 3573 S. Waverly Rd., Eaton Rapids, Mich.
