Edith McWherter, 90, of House, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital in Alamogordo.
She was born on June 27, 1913, in House, to Frank and Lona Mae Dwight Kirchmeier.
She attended school at House, graduating in May 1932. She married Glen E. McWherter on June 15, 1932, in Clovis. She was a seamstress for many years and family members said she was talented. She served on the House Village Council for four years and was a lifelong member of House Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers, Elton, Elmer, Earl, Everett, Ernest and Edgar Kirchmeier.
She is survived by a brother, Ervin Kirchmeier (and wife, Wilma) of Alamogordo; two sisters-in-law Alyce Kirchmeier of California and Nina Kirchmeier of Alamogordo.
The Rev. Sherman Martin will officiate the services.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.
