Mr. Joe Carpenter, 73, of Clovis, a retired wholesaler, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born April 16, 1930, in Farwell, to Lon and Della Johnson Carpenter.
He married Glenda Dosher on Nov. 19, 1950, in Texico. He was a Korean War veteran. They owned and operated Ponca Wholesale for 28 years. He was a member and deacon at Central Baptist Church. He taught ninth-grade boys Sunday school and was the Brotherhood Breakfast cook for 13 years at First Baptist Church in Tucumcari.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Lucille Gulley.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pam (and husband, Lance) Adkins and Tam Curry (Benton), all of Clovis; and four grandchildren, Kim Adkins, Jace Adkins, Jamie Curry and Andrea Curry.
The Rev. Joseph Vest will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Phillips, Eddie Adkins, Charles Sanders, Thomas LaPlante, Duane Collins and Rick Hollis.
Honorary bearers will be deacons of Central Baptist Church.
