Mrs. Kay Goodman, 56, of Albuquerque, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1949, in Portales, to Sue and Ed Harris.
She grew up in Portales and graduated from Portales High School in 1965. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1970. She received a master’s degree at the University of New Mexico. Her first teaching job was in Lovington and then Eunice where she taught until her marriage. She married Tom Goodman on Dec. 27, 1973, in Portales. They moved to Moriarty where she taught in middle school and high school English, literature and drama for more than 25 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moriarty. Family members said she enjoyed quilting, gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Bert and Bart Goodman, both of Albuquerque; her step-mother, Eudora Harris of Portales; a brother, Edwin “Eddie” Harris Jr. of Clear Lake City, Texas; and a sister, Phyllis Spears of Houston, Texas.
Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
