Pleasant Hill Womens Club Meeting
The Pleasant Hill Womens Club met on Sept. 18 with eight members present at the Pleasant Hill Fire Department meeting room. A covered dish luncheon was served at noon by hostesses Donna Donahey and Alice Pierce.
Alice Pierce, president, called the meeting to order and thanked members who helped clean up the fire station in August. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. There was discussion on drawing names of secret pals and sending cards. A list will be made available at the October meeting. Bertha Kelley, card chairman, said she needs help in knowing members that need cards, due to illness or deaths.
The next meeting is Oct. 16, 2003, with Paulette Wood teaching faux painting. Hostesses will be Hazel Eshleman and Wanda Kelley.
Nite Owls Extension Club
The Nite Owls Extension Club met on Aug. 20 at the extension building with 10 members present. Agnes Brown was hostess. A short business meeting was held. Members discussed making stuffed bears to be given to the fire and police departments and to nursing homes.
Agnes Brown furnished plastic canvas Christmas cards to make.
The door prize was furnished by Betty Ryan and was won by Arleen Woffenden.
The club also met on Sept. 3 with Ruth Martin as hostess. A pattern for stuffed bears was shown.
After the meeting was adjourned, Martin provided “Santa’s red underwear” to sew and fill with candy. It can be used as an ornament.
Dorothy Acrey won the door prize, which was given by Arleen Woffenden.
