Pearl Frances Holbrook, 90, died Oct. 9, 2003 at St. John’s Living Center in Jackson, Wyo.
She was born Dec. 26, 1913, to Henry and Grace Curtis. Her parents homesteaded in Roosevelt County in 1906. Mrs. Holbrook attended school in the Fairfield community south of Texico/Farwell. At 15, she married Lloyd W. Vaughan of the Hollene community. They soon moved to a farm northeast of Melrose, where her three children were born and grew up. After moving to Clovis in 1943, she worked as a waitress for the Fox Drugstore at 4th and Main Streets. She later bought the Duck Inn restaurant. In 1947, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and, later, to Clarksville, Ark. In April 2000 she relocated to a farm and ranch near Riverton, Wyo., and moved to Jackson in April 2003, when her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Lloyd Vaughan and Homer Holbrook; five brothers and two grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Fulgham (husband Benny) of Clovis; and Frances ElNora Borden (husband Harold) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son Doyle Ray Vaughn (wife Dianna) of Jackson, Wyo. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
