Talley, Edna Jeannine
Services: Have been held.
Edna Jeannine Talley, 75, of Clovis died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at her home in Clovis. She was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Pomery, Ohio, to Pearl and Bertha Parker.
She was raised in Pomeroy and graduated Pomeroy High School. Her marriage to Harold Talley, an Air Force technical sergeant, ushered her out of Ohio and into military life with moves to the Azores (Portugal), Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri. When her husband retired from the Air Force, they moved to Commerce, Texas, in 1975. It was in Commerce that she began her own in-home day care center. For more than 20 years, Mrs. Talley helped raise over 80 children, family members said. The new career earned her the nickname Mammaw.
In addition to taking care of children, she enjoyed discussing politics, her grandchildren, crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and her husband.
Survivors include two brothers, Tom and Sonny Parker; four children, Scott Talley (and wife, Denise), Tim Talley (Joan), Tami Noldand and Mark Talley (Beth); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Jones-Walker and Sons Funeral Home in Commerce from 6 to 7 p.m. (CST) on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Leukemia Society.
