A two-vehicle crash west of Clovis injured two people on Tuesday, one of whom was airlifted to Lubbock, according to Curry County Sheriff Roger Hatcher. Hatcher said one victim was able to escape from her car before it caught fire.
According to Hatcher, a pickup truck and a small two-door sedan crashed shortly after 5 p.m. at the corner of County Road N and County Road 11. Hatcher said there are no stop signs, yield signs, or stoplights at the intersection, which is about two miles west of Plains Regional Medical Center.
County Road 11 is the name used outside the Clovis city limits for what is known as 21st Street within the city.
Hatcher said a full report on the crash wasn’t yet available Tuesday evening and names were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
“It looks like one person failed to yield the right of way at the uncontrolled intersection and both cars ended up in the same place,” Hatcher said.
Information on the crash victims’ conditions was not immediately available.
