Police car involved in crash

A two-car crash involving a police vehicle led to both drivers being carried from the scene, according to a preliminary police report on the incident.
Neither driver had been cited as of Monday evening and the incident remains under investigation, according to Lt. Patrick Whitney, who said he didn’t have additional information on the incident.
The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. Friday night at the corner of Seventh and Beta streets, according to the police report.
A 19-year-old Clovis female driver with four passengers in a 1998 Pontiac was southbound on Beta, stopped at the stop sign for Seventh Street, and turned east on Seventh Street where it was hit by a patrol car that was westbound on Seventh Street. The Pontiac received heavy damage and its four passengers reported pain but no visible injury; the police car received moderate damage. Both drivers were incapacitated and carried from the scene with unspecified injuries to Plains Regional Medical Center, according to the report.
