Jasper “Newt” McCarty, 69, of Rio Rancho died Thursday, March 11, 2004.
Family members said McCarty served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
He founded Joan’s Chili Pepper Emporium and was associated with Mac’s Steak in the Rough restaurants, they said.
Family members said he would be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Joan, to whom he was married for 39 years; a daughter, Jillene (and husband Dave) Jones of Rio Rancho; sons Newt (Amy) McCarty of Albuquerque, and Jonathan (Suzanne) McCarty of Peralta; eight grandchildren, Tanner and Morgan Rawson, Lilly, Karina and Rhett McCarty, and Levi Jacob and Noah McCarty; a sister, Luana Hopkins of Vinita, Okla.; a brother, David W. McCarty (Ruth Des Jardins) of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews.
Pastor Si Budagher will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. today at French Mortuary, University Boulevard Chapel, in Albuquerque.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
