Ship dropped two bombs in Fallujah
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Beau T. Altman, whose wife, Jaelynn, is the daughter of Malinda Gooding of Clovis, recently participated in Operation Vigilant Resolve while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, in Norfolk, Va.
During the operation, Strike Fighter Squadron 131 and Carrier Air Wing Seven, launched F/A-18 Hornets from Altman’s ship and conducted a 20-mm strafing run against an enemy position and dropped two 500-pound laser guided bombs on another enemy position in Fallujah, Iraq. This was the first live ordnance dropped by CVW-7 aircraft since Washington deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Supervisors for fuel storage deploy to Iraq
Air Force Master Sgt. Jay P. Carpenter and Tech. Sgt. Joseph T. Widener have deployed overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Carpenter is a fuels manager normally assigned to Cannon Air Force Base. He has 18 years of military service. His wife, Sheri, is the daughter of Patricia L. Rams of Portales.
Widener is a fuels storage supervisor normally assigned to the 27th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Cannon Air Force Base. He has 16 years of military service. His wife, Piki, is the daughter of Cecil and Shirley Kingrey of Whalen Place, Sherwood, Ark. Her parents, Helen and Bobby Free, live in Muleshoe.
