Services: A private family burial will be held
Elsie Faith Caughran, 83, of Albuquerque, died Friday, May 7, 2004, at her home.
She was born on May 19, 1920, McComb, Okla., to John and Eva Bliss.
They moved to Grady when she was 5 years old. She married her first-grade sweetheart, James Virgil Caughran on June 29, 1941. She went to college in Portales and taught school in Columbus and Grady for several years. They moved to Dove Creek, Colo., in the mid-1940s where she taught school and helped with the farm and the LP Gas business. She had lived in Albuquerque for over 45 years, where she was an active volunteer for the Lovelace Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years. She was a pianist, playing for the Methodist churches wherever she lived. Family members said she was an avid reader, loved to play bridge with her many friends, loved to be outdoors and work in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Don.
Survivors include her husband; a sister, Mildred Merrill of Clovis; a niece and many nephews; a daughter-in-law; and other family.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors in Albuquerque.
