Mr. William F. “Dunny” Goode, 74, of Clovis, a football coach, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1929, in a tent dugout in Pampa, Texas, to W.F. and Grace Goode.
He was born in Pampa, Texas, but always called Midland, Texas, his birthplace. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He spent 33 years of his life as a football coach in New Mexico and Texas, during which time he wore all the colors, from gold, black, purple, white, green, silver and all the rest. His hobby was coaching and playing racquetball. When he wasn’t coaching, family members said he enjoyed fishing with his son and hunting on the family ranch south of Fort Sumner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; and a brother.
Survivors include a son, Bear Goode (and wife, Doris) of Navajo Dam; a brother, Kenneth Goode of Midland, Texas; and two grandchildren, David and Samantha.
The Rev. Lance Clemmons will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Eric Roanhaus, Thad Greene, Randy Adrian, Mike Prokop, Larry Horner and Darrell Bode.
