Man admits to manufacturing child porn: Cops and Courts

A Clovis man pleaded guilty Tuesday to five counts of manufacturing child pornography. He’s been ordered to undergo a diagnostic evaluation at the New Mexico Department of Corrections by the court, District Attorney Brett Carter said.
Rockey Fleming was arrested in April after 6,000 images and at least 70 video tapes depicting lewd sexual acts with minors were discovered in his home.
When he returns from the diagnostic evaluation he will be facing up to 45 years in prison, Carter said.
“Because the crime involved children, we wanted to make sure we can put this person away a long time, so he will be spending most of his life behind bars,” Carter said.

The Clovis Police Department has had trouble keeping up with emergency calls lately, Capt. Dan Blair of the police services division said.
Blair said the department remains understaffed.
“Over a year ago we presented a program to the city’s public safety committee about our manpower needs and that we were down, and that we are having trouble recruiting officers, both certified and non certified,” Blair said. “… We met again (on Aug. 17) … That committee is looking at things to do to help increase our manning and so forth.”
Blair said that without manpower the police have to cut services, prioritizing calls in a new case management system. He said homicides, crimes against children, and aggravated batteries are at the top of the priority list. Property crimes, fraud, and forgery are lower down.
