A 23-year-old Clovis woman was shot in the foot Wednesday during a possible robbery on the city’s west side. The shooting suspect remains at large, police said.
The woman was resting in her home at 1308 W. Ninth St. about 11:30 a.m. when a man entered her house and demanded money, said Sgt. Roger Grah, a detective with the Clovis Police Department.

The woman was shot once in the right foot during a confrontation, then driven to Plains Regional Medical Center by a friend, police said. Authorities said she was treated and released from the hospital. Police would not release her name.

Grah said the suspect is a Hispanic male, about 20, with previous criminal offenses. Police would not release the man’s name.

“We know exactly who it is,” Grah said. “He is the kind of guy that will definitely take off out of town and out of state. We have dealt with him several times before.”

The woman told police one shot was fired, but Grah said three bullet casings were found at the one-story home.
Grah said he expects a warrant for the suspect’s arrest will be issued today.

Efforts to reach the victim at her home Wednesday afternoon were unsuccessful.
