2/27 Birth, Organizations


Michael and Christina Wampler of Clovis, are the parents of a 6 pound 11 ounce girl, Aurora Gwendalyn Wampler, born on Jan. 10, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

Grandparents are Woody and Sylvia Wampler of Tucumcari and Larry and Sharon Edler of Trout Run, Pa.

Altrusa International, Inc.

Members of Altrusa of Clovis met at Muffley’s Backdoor for their regular business meeting. A nominating committee has been appointed to put together a slate of officers for next year. Committee members are Carolyn Sherman, Carolyn Muffley, and Joanne Winslow. The slate of officers will be announced at the next meeting.

Sylvia Bean reported that she is continuing to gather material for the ‘In The Beginning’ baskets which are given to first time mothers.

Margie Watkins brought peanut butter crackers for those who are receiving treatment at the Cancer Center. Phyllis Davidson will deliver the crackers and check on the supply of pillows, wigs, and hats.

Sylvia Bean reported that the book collection box at Walmart continues to be a success. Books are being delivered to the retirement homes, schools, libraries, and the Hartley House.

The Spelling Bee will be held on March 5th. Members are asked to bring cookies to serve to the contestants. The Spelling Bee committee consists of Carolyn Sherman, Gaye Cooke, Kathy Travis, Joanne Winslow, and Glenda Hileman.

The club will hold a garage sale on March 19. The members are asked to gather items and check with neighbors, friends, etc. for garage sale items.

The Altrusa District Ten Conference will be held on April 29-30. All officers are encouraged to attend as well as any member who is able.
