Mrs. Dorothy I. Davis Smith, 82, of Clovis, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Parmer County Area Hospital in Friona.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1922, in Texico, to Fay L. and Alma Crume Davis.
She grew up and went to school in Pleasant Hill. After graduation she moved to Clovis. She worked at Alexander Drug Store. In the early 1950s she moved to Portales and worked for B & J Drug Store as a fountain clerk. Family members said she enjoyed people and loved to go to the Midway and dance.
She married Richard O. “Dubbs” Smith in April of 1954. The couple moved to Hobbs and later back to Portales. She was a member of the East Valley View Crafting Club and Parkland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Gereme Martin, Betty Gossett and Fern Holt; and two brothers, Bert Davis and Favil Moore.
Survivors include three sisters, Georgie Stone of Fort Stockton, Texas, Jessie Belle Pate of Lovington, and Nora Alice Davis of Hereford, Texas; a son, Richard O. Smith Jr. (and wife, Deborah) of Clovis; four grandchildren, Tony Edwards (Kay), James Edwards, Adam Edwards (Michelle) and Rabecca Spencer (James); and two great-grandchildren, Natalie Page Edwards and Aubrianna Nichole Edwards.
The Rev. Jason Schwope and the Rev. Doug Brooks will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are J.E. Stone, Virgil, Gayland, and G.A. Gossett, Larry and James Holt, and Paul White.
