Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Police initiated a traffic stop Friday in the area of Rio and Jefferson streets. Upon approaching the car, the officer smelled marijuana.

The subject stated that he had not been smoking, but another subject had been riding in his car earlier and had smoked that evening.

The officer asked if he could search the car, and the subject complied. A cigar with a green leafy substance was found and tested positive for marijuana.

The driver was issued a misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana and issued a traffic citation.

Police observed a car in the early morning hours of Saturday pulling into Hillcrest Park, which was closed.

The officer detected an odor of alcohol on the juvenile driver. He did a pat down and found a pack of cigarettes, which he placed on the hood of the car. The juvenile then grabbed the cigarettes, yelled an obscenity at the officer, and was placed under arrest.

Another juvenile in the vehicle was found with marijuana in his pocket. Another juvenile smelled of alcohol.

All three subjects were transported to the Curry County Juvenile Detention Center for various charges.
