Lelah “Bonita” McCarty, 89, of House, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1915, in Enid, Okla.

She was an elementry school teacher in Oklahoma, Cimarron, and House. She was the founder of the House Pantry in House, and served several years with the Road Runner Food Bank in which she recieved a number of U.S.D.A. Awards.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Harmon, Thomas Eugene Harmon of Van Leir, Tenn., Max Albert Harmon of Kentucky, and the Rev. Jewel Harmon of Monassa, Colo; four daughters, Carrie Cummings of Fort Worth, Texas, Eva Burnadine Harmon of Cleveland, Texas, Lela Marian Blaylock of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Leila Jean Skaggs of Bucklin, Mo; 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Danny Sanders will officiate the services.
