Betty Maye Hill, 61, of Deming, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Mimbres Memorial Care and Rehabilitation Center in Deming.
She was born on March 24, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., to William R. and Ella Maye Stephen.
She and her husband moved to Deming three years ago from Flagstaff, Ariz. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Family members said she was an artist, a seamstress and liked to crochet.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jacqueline Johnson; and a brother, Jackie Stephen.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Hill of Deming; a son, Emmitt Hatch (and wife, Monica) of Thoreau; a daughter, Cheryle Keller (Troy) of Roswell; two brothers, Robert W. Stephen (Donna) of Weed, and Jerry Stephen (Carla) of Roswell; three sisters, Diane White (Danny) of Elko, Nev., Syble Nunnelee and Shirley Mattavich, both of Las Cruces; seven grandchildren, Dara Sanders (Chris), Jereme Johnson, Rita Maye Peralta, and AJ Peralta, all of Roswell, and Nicholas, Breanna and Brittany Hatch all of Thoreau; a great-grandchild, Christopher Alec Sanders of Roswell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Deming.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Ninth Street Church of Christ in Deming.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Wheeler Mortuary in Portales.
