Agapito M. Lucero, 54, of Fort Sumner, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at his home.
He was born on July 2, 1950, in Corona, to Alfredo and Martina Garcia Lucero.
He was raised in Fort Sumner where he graduated from high school. He attended Clovis Community College’s automotive program. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked as a seismograph operator for several years traveling across the U.S. He also worked in road construction, most recently with White Cloud Construction Company in Roswell and Las Cruces. He was a member of the American Legion in Clovis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Angelica Enriquez (and husband, Orlando) of Fort Sumner; three sons, Rudy Lucero (Vanessa), Gregg Lucero, and Pete Lucero (Nicole), all of Fort Sumner; two sisters, Felipa Downing of Fort Sumner and Theresa Marshall (Keith) of Las Cruces; four brothers, Nick Lucero (Dora) of Fort Sumner, Gabe Lucero (Sis) of Grand Junction, Colo., Ruben Lucero, and Simon Lucero (Tammy), all of Fort Sumner; seven grandchildren, Tristen, Mea, Haily, Aliyah and Alexys Lucero, Jasmine Castillo, and Evangelese Enriquez; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner.
Father Sotero A. Sena will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Beto Lopez, Scott Marshall, Gilbert Pena, Michael and Danny Garcia and Simon Lucero.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Monday at Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
A fund for the Lucero family has been established with the Fort Sumner Ministerial Alliance, P.O. Box 287; Fort Sumner, NM 88119.
