Danny Ruther, 21, of Portales, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1984, in Hollister, Calif.
He grew up in Floyd where he attended school. He graduated from Centennial High School in Utica, Neb., in 2002. He traveled for a short time before moving back to Floyd two years ago. He had worked for Dale Varnell Construction for a short time and Kenneth Herbert Lumber in Portales.
Family members said he enjoyed playing the guitar, skiing, boating and construction.
Survivors include a son, Lane Mathew Wurst-Ruther of Lincoln, Neb.; his father, Dan Ruther (and wife, Christine) of Roswell; his mother, Yantie Jones (Deacon) of Floyd; five brothers, Justin Ruther (Melissa) of Valiant, Okla., Adam Ruther of Fort Campbell, Ky., Brody Jones of The Colony, Texas, Aaron Ruther of Roswell and Trevor Dudley of Valiant, Okla.; and four sisters, Rebecca Thompson of Clovis, Amber England of Eagle Creek, Okla., and Sarah Hammock and Jessica Fulgham, both of Valiant, Okla.
The Rev. Billy Jones and James Love will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Floyd Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Adam and Aaron Ruther, Casey Herron, Robert Hardin, Mark Jones, and Tim Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers are his brother, Justin Ruther, and all other brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
