Mrs. Eva Mae Partin, 82, of Portales, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1922, near Big Spring, Texas, to Ima Orene and Jerry Scott Riley.
She grew up in Arch and graduated from Portales High School. She married Allen “Buck” Partin on Nov. 19, 1942, in Alexandria, La. While her husband served in World War II, she worked at the Dickie jean plant in Fort Worth, Texas, and as a riveter at the Boeing aircraft plant in Seattle. In 1959 they moved to Portales. She was employed as a typesetter at the Portales News Tribune, and worked as bookkeeper at Eastern Welding Supply. She had been retired since 1984. She was a member of the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ.
Family members said she loved doing crafts, made quilts and afghans for all of her grandchildren, and countless baby booties for newborns. Her family will always remember her for her various special pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Pat, George, and Jerry Scott Riley Jr.; a sister, Nell Stokes; and a daughter, Barbara Jean Partin.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, Grady Partin (and wife, Kay) of Chandler, Ariz., Charles Partin (Pam) of Del Norte, Colo., Jerry Partin (Karla) of Portales, Marvin Partin (Ellie) of Albuquerque and Gary Partin (Delma) of Portales; a daughter, Judy Chandler (Jim) of Floyd; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Riley of Littleton, Colo.; four sisters, her twin, Neva Wilhoit of Portales, Imogene Arnold of Arch, Joy Williams of Abilene, Texas, and Merle Corbin of Arch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David Bennett will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Richard, Benjamin, Skyler and Walker Partin and Colin and Lorin Chandler.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
