The Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott under construction on North Prince Street, which features a pool, spa and business center, is scheduled to open in April, according to a company official.
Dick Fields, vice president of operations for Marriott, said the new hotel will have 69 rooms.
“Approximately one-third of the rooms will be suites,” Fields said. He said the apartment-like rooms will have small kitchens and living rooms along with separate bedrooms.
“The remaining rooms will be standard rooms,” Fields said.
“Marriott is so excited to open in Clovis,” Fields said. “It is a beautiful facility.”
Construction also continues at Big Lots, which is moving in next the Master’s Center on 21st Street. Big Lots officials could not be reached Monday for comment.
Construction of a private surgical center west of Plains Regional Medical Center has hit a snag, according a city official.
City building inspector Pete Wilt said construction has halted due to the contractor pulling the building permit. Some ground work had begun at the site.
A Michigan-based company is building the center, according to Wilt.
