Kyle Newell
Mr. Kyle L. Newell, 53, of Clovis, died Oct. 2, 2005, at his home in Clovis.

He was born Feb. 22, 1952, in Lubbock to Clyde and Volna Newell.

He had been a resident of Clovis since 1957 and graduated from Clovis High School in 1970. He was in the printing business with his father, Clyde. They owned and operated Art Craft Printing in Clovis. He attended Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Okla., for one year. He was a member of Faith Christian Church in Clovis.

Family members said he was a man of faith and compassion, a loving and devoted father who enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and football, and was so committed to his grandchildren that he never missed a play, promotion or sporting event.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Clydia Newell Ford.

He is survived by his mother, Volna Newell; three daughters, Shannon Fallis (and husband, Joseph) of Clovis, Brandi Cummings (Kyle) of Lubbock and Christina Newell of Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren, Jordane and Devinne Fallis and Kaden, Rylan and Zack Cummings.

The Rev. Rick Burke will officiate the services.

Burial will be at the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers are Denton Colvin, Doug Colvin, Doug Gibbs, Robert Gray, Ted Hare, Dale Shaw, Michael Shelley and Rick Switzer.

Burial will be at the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Alice Davis

Alice “Ruth” Fitzpatrick Davis, 87, of Clovis, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at the Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque.

She was born Nov. 8, 1917, to John and Grace Quigley Fitzpatrick in Saint Marys, Kan., and was adopted by William and Mary O’Neal Fitzpatrick. She married Cecil Davis on Sept. 2, 1939, in Amarillo. She was a homemaker, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Anna Marie Curry.

She is survived by her husband, four sons, Bill Davis (and wife, Debbie) of Las Vegas, Nev., Cecil “Bud” Jr. Davis (Michelle) of Los Angeles, Calif., Joe Davis (Carylon) of Clovis and John Davis (Maureen) of Bull Head City, Ariz.; a daughter, Mary Nation of Albuquerque; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Father Wilfred Savard will officiate the services.

Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be John Davis, Joe Davis, Kenneth Davis, Drake Davis, Mark Shane Nation and Kris Nation.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Joe Visage

Mr. Joe L. Visage, 86, of Portales, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, in Lubbock.

He was born June 24, 1919, in Lockney, Texas, to Katherine and William R. Visage.

He moved to Portales in 1938 from Canyon, Texas. He graduated from Portales High School in 1938. He married Ruth Hanie Aug. 10, 1941, in Portales. He served in the Army during the Normandy invasion.

For most of his life, he farmed, ranched, owned and operated the Sanitary Barber Shop. He retired from the barber shop in the mid 1970s.

He received the area’s Outstanding Conservation Farmer Award in 1965, served as deacon at the First Baptist Church in Portales for more than 40 years, and was awarded for most rewarding service to the church in 1965. He was building committee chairman and supervised the new Fellowship Hall Building’s construction.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Visage; and two sisters, Ola Bishop and Eva Visage.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Dr. Marlin Visage of Tulsa, Okla., Robert Visage (and wife, Lynn) of Portales and Jerry Visage (Jenine) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Melba Crossley (Robert) of Farmington and Patricia Visage of Clovis; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lula Faye Beckman of Houston and Bobbie Crowley of Farmington.

Dr. Al Woodard will officiate the services, assisted by the Rev. Winston Berry.

Burial will be at the Portales Cemetery.
