10/9 Police Blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

• At 6 a.m. on Tuesday, a woman on the 1000 block of Wallace called the police station after she woke up, found the back door open, and discovered her car and keys missing. The woman told the responding police officers that she didn’t give anyone permission to enter her house or take her keys or car. The incident was indexed on the National Crime Information Center’s FBI database.

• At 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at the intersection of Plains Avenue and Main Street, police officers stopped two young men for questioning and found alcohol in their possession. A patrolman profiled and questioned the two Hispanic juveniles. One of the juveniles ran, threw a glass bottle away, and was stopped by a policeman who booked him at the juvenile detention facility. The other was issued a ticket, being a minor in possession of alcohol.

• At 3 p.m. on Tuesday, a 40-year-old Clovis man told police he took the distributor wire of another man’s truck outside of a business on the 700 block of Prince St. The truck was not registered in the name of either men. Both had been arguing over items being bought and sold through the business. Police returned the keys and distributor wire to the vehicle’s driver. Charges are pending the district attorney’s review of the case.

• At 4 p.m. on Tuesday, a policeman on patrol observed a lot of light coming from the lower back door of a business building on the 1100 block of 7th Street. Suspecting a possible break-in or theft, the officer investigated and found the bottom panel of the door cut open. A police K-9 sniffed out the building for intruders. The business owner was contacted and asked to conduct an inventory to identify any missing items.
