Nilen Ellis “Bird” Birdsong, 73, of Clovis, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at his home in Clovis.
He was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Hooks, Texas, to Fred and Beaula Triple Birdsong. He married Setsuko “Miko” Tomikawa Sept. 21, 1960, in Okinawa. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 as a tech sergeant.
Family members said he loved fishing, camping and horse racing.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brothers, Jessie, Johnny, Lee Roy and Melvin Birdsong; and two sisters, Bonnie Faye Pond and Thelma Wedgeworth.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Birdsong and Carol Birdsong, both of Clovis; five grandchildren, Erica R. Holland of Rio Rancho, Dustin Birdsong-Holland of Clovis, Grayson Bartosiewicz of Dallas, Adam E. Niece of Clovis and Miko Birdsong of Clovis; five brothers, Sonny Birdsong of Marshall, Texas, Fred Birdsong, Gerald Birdsong and Donald Birdsong, all of New Boston, Texas; and three sisters, Lois Jean Nix of Hooks, Texas, Joy Beth Lewis of Houston and Velma Bernard of New Boston, Texas.
Capt. Donald Bridges, a chaplain will officiate services
Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be John Vestal Jr., Bryan Niece, Kevin Cravy, Isaac Urban, Pacer Davis and Albert Cordova Sr.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
