William Robert Bunten, 84, of Topeka, Kan., died on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at Presbyterian Manor.
He was born April 18, 1921, in Topeka to Arch and Grace E. Hutton Bunten. He grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School. He married Ruby D. Rutz on Sept. 9, 1940, in Bernalillo
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1983. During his career with the railroad, they lived in Newton and Wellington, Kan., Belen, Albuquerque and Clovis and Topeka.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Bill Bunten (and wife, Betty) of Carlsbad, Bruce E. Bunten of Bridger, Mont., and Byron L. Bunten (Sarah) of Gilroy, Calif.; a daughter, Kay Bunten Busch of Richmond, Mo.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers; James A. Bunten and Daniel L. Bunten, both of Albuquerque, and Donald J. Bunten of Rio Rancho.
