Mrs. Elizabeth Rebecca Hurley Mitchell, 103, of Clovis, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at the Laurel Ridge Healthcare.
She was born May 28, 1902, in Cody, Wyo., to Frank and Carrie Hurley.
She married Dewey Mitchell at Grier, on Aug. 11, 1921. The family moved to Nebraska when she was 2, and to Curry County when she was 13. She lived on the farm at Grier. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Clovis. Family members said she loved gardening, flowers, quilting, and tatting, and that her family was a big part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Leon Mitchell; three brothers, Leland, Frank and Dwight; and two sisters, Lorene Willis and Susa Barker.
She is survived by a daughter, Iris O’Rear (and husband, Willard) of St. Vrain; three sons, Waymon Mitchell (Loretta), Elbert Mitchell (Beulah) and Ronnie Mitchell (Wanda), all of Clovis; a daughter-in-law, Ann Mitchell of Mesquite, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Herbert Bergstrom will officiate at the services. Burial will be at the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
