Zias’ Schiely earns All-LSC South berth

RICHARDSON, Texas — Senior middle blocker Lindsay Schiely represented Eastern New Mexico University on the All-Lone Star Conference South Division volleyball team, released monday by the league office.

Junior middle blocker Grace George represented the Zias on the second team.

South Division and LSC tournament champion Abilene Christian led the way with four players selected to the first team, including the top three vote-getters in senior middle blocker Amanda Slate, senior outside hitter Michelle Bernhardt and senior seter Lindsay Martin.

Schiely and Grace ranked 1-2 in ENMU’s hitting and blocking stats for the season. Schiely compiled 376 kills to 281 for Grace, while Grace had 129 total blocks (21 block solos, 108 block assists) to 105 (11 and 94) for Schiely.

The Zias finished 8-19, including 3-7 for fourth in the six-team South, and saw a string of 16 consecutive winning seasons come to an end.

In the North Division, regular-season champion and conference tournament runnerup Central Oklahoma led the way with three first-team selections.
