Notes: Adams State dropped its opener to ENMU 72-67 last year at Alamosa, Colo., and proceded to go 0-18 before breaking through for its first win. The Grizzlies finished 3-24. … This year, Adams State opened its season with a 60-47 win at home over Lubbock Christian on Friday, outscoring the Chaparrals 38-14 in the second half. ENMU also beat LCU in its opener, winning 62-56 in Lubbock on Nov. 15. … Senior G Greg Baker led the Grizzlies in their win over the Chaps with 15 points, while junior F Roman Moniak added 12 points and 13 rebounds. … ENMU is coming off a third-place finish in the weekend Westlink Classic at Hays, Kan., losing to Washburn 90-85 in overtime and beating Illinois Tech 72-65.

Notes: Billings and Fort Lewis competed in last weekend’s Yellowjacket Classic at Billings, meeting in the first round with the Lady Jackets winning 75-56. Fort Lewis went on to beat Western Oregon 82-54 for third while Billings lost to Hillsdale (Mich.) College in the finals 66-53. … The Zias, who swept a home-and-home series with Western New Mexico to open the season, have only met the Lady Jackets previously in back-to-back game games in Billings in November 1991, with Billings winning the opener 64-61 and ENMU taking a 72-70 victory on the second night. … Tanya Petersen, a 6-0 senior F, led Billings in its own tourney, scoring 35 points and grabbing 25 rebounds in the two games. … For Fort Lewis last weekend, 6-0 senior P Stephanie Kosters collected 25 points and 16 rebounds while 5-11 junior F Kelly Goodman added 22 points. … ENMU has played the Skyhawks in November in each of the last two seasons, losing 63-60 in the finals of the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix in 2003 and beating Fort Lewis 57-53 in last year’s season opener at Greyhound Arena.
