Annie Sarabeth Fitzsimmons Steele, 84, of Clovis, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, in Clovis.
She was born May 4, 1921, on a farm near Sherman, Okla., to Abram Miller and Pearl Cox Hubbard Fitzsimmons. She attended Cedardale Christian Church, which her father and neighbors built. She married Francis Howard Steele on Jan. 1, 1938. They moved to Clovis in 1942. She helped her husband in the cattle trucking industry as a bookkeeper and telephone operator. She also helped drive. She was a member of D.A.R. El Portal Chapter.
Family members said she loved to sew and made many quilts and bedspreads and loved her pets Woofie, Bobbie and Snippy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Walter; and a sister, Sylvie.
She is survived by three sons, Francis Steele (and wife, Marilyn) of Houston, Howard Lynn Steele (Monica) of Lincoln City, Ore., and Gary Steele of Clovis; a daughter, Nancy Jane Steele of Dallas; two grandchildren, Trey Lynn Steele of Houston and Sheryl Steele Sanchez of Corvallis, Ore.; four great-grandchildren, Rachel Fayth and Cody Lynn Steele of Houston and Brandon Steele and Adrian Sanchez of Corvallis, Ore.; a sister, Neva Steele of Clovis; a sister-in-law, Dessie Bergen (J.A.) of Canby, Ore; and many other friends and relatives.
The Rev. Charles Newton officiated.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
