Former prosecutor joins DA’s office
A former Albuquerque prosecutor joined the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office this week.

Roderick Juarez, 50, was a prosecutor in Albuquerque from 1998 to 2000 and worked in private practice until this year, he said.

“I like being a DA better (than a private attorney) …I have a strong sense of community,” he said.

The Kansas-born father of two teenage daughters said he likes Clovis, but has not yet found a house.

Juarez has been assigned two cases so far, he said.

District Attorney Matt Chandler said the 11 DAs in his office are currently responsible for 288 open cases on average, and he’d like to have two more DAs.
