Mike Coplen, 73, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, in Phoenix.
He was born March 6, 1932, in Portales to Warren W. and Berniece Coplen.
He attended Eastern New Mexico University and graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in electrical engineering. After graduation, he traveled with Allis Chamlera before going into business for himself. He married Sandra Evans in 1956 in Troup, Texas.
Family members said he was an outstanding high school athlete in football and basketball.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter; his parents; a brother, Wayne Coplen; and a sister, Joy.
Survivors include three children, Cindy, Russ and Karen, all of Phoenix; a grandson, Danny Coplen; a brother, Warren of Truth or Consequences; four sisters, Margaret Smith of Portales, Lou Snyder of Clovis, Tola Weigand of Albuquerque and Jeanene Jones (and, husband Bert) of Fort Collins, Colo.
Burial took place in Phoenix.
