Alfred Robert ‘Al’ Perry Jr., 67, of Clovis, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at his home in Clovis.
He was born March 11, 1938, to Alfred Robert and Nora Lalley Perry in San Francisco. He graduated from George Washington High School in San Francisco. He attended college at San Jose State, Hayward State, and Eastern New Mexico University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in business finance and accounting. He married Stella Cole on March 8, 1993, in Hollister, Calif. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service.
Family members said he was an avid reader and loved model trains.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Laura Perry; sister, Edith Perry; son, Douglas Hopingardner and son-in-law, Peter Bernstein.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Perry of Clovis; daughters, Jennifer Bernstein of Bend, Ore., and Laura Shatzel of Bend, Ore.; son, Don Hopingardner (and wife Junelle) of Clovis; brothers, Ralph Sullivan of San Francisco and Ronnie Sullivan of Santa Rosa, Calif.; five grandchildren, Ian Bernstein, Drue Bernstein, Candace Inman, Joshua Inman and Chris Shatzel, all of Bend, Ore.
