PREP ROUNDUP: Foxes hold off Santa Rosa

hit a 3-pointer with less than two minutes to put Fort Sumner up by seven points and the Foxes held off Santa Rosa 60-57 at home in a non-district boys game.

Jeremy Guana scored 18 points and Stephen Gallegos added 12 as Fort Sumner (18-3) won its 12th straight game.

Down by three at halftime, Fort Sumner outscored Santa Rosa 20-13 in the third quarter.

“We played great defense in the third quarter and didn’t allow Santa Rosa any second opportunities at the basket,” Fort Sumner coach Wes Weems said.

led a balanced attack with 10 points as Clovis Christian (14-8) beat Mosquero 57-25 in a District 4-1A contest.

Girls
* Lindsay Mansell
scored 17 points for Fort Sumner (11-10) in a 44-34 loss to Santa Rosa as the teams stepped out of district play.

By the numbers
Eight Clovis Christian Lady Eagles scored in a 45-15 District 4-1A win over Mosquero. Jennifer Schaap led the way for CCS (14-8) with 12 points.
