Lourdes Sena, 83, of Portales, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Laurel Plains Healthcare Center in Clovis.
She was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Aurora, to Innacita and Guadalupe Ortiz. She married Eudalicio Sena in Sena on Nov. 6, 1944. The family moved a great deal with her husband’s employment but Sena was the community that was always considered home until she moved to Portales in about 1980.
For a number of years, she was employed as a cook at the Villanueva schools. After moving to Portales, she was a foster grandparent for several years.
Family members said she enjoyed dancing, cooking, quilting and playing Bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Armadeo, Candaleria and Gilbert Ortiz; two sisters, Lilly Encinias and Adneva Saiz; a son, Eddie Sena; two daughters, Socorro Pena and Marie Ortiz; and her husband, who died Dec. 26, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Endalicio Sena Jr. of Las Vegas, N.M.; six daughters, Lucy Barela (and husband, Juan) of Clovis, Gloria Ortiz of Albuquerque, Martha Sena and Barbara Sena, both of Las Vegas, N.M., Angela Sena-Henderson (Kenny) of Albuquerque and Bernice Eagle (Greg) of Clovis 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Adonias Ortiz of Clovis and Sonny Ortiz of Texico; and four sisters, Carmen Hernandez and Jane Madrid, both of Clovis, and Maggie Orosco and Lorraine Salguero, both of Texico.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel.
The Rev. Don Hay will officiate.
Burial will take place in Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ike Montoya, Benny Ortiz, Carl Sena, James Sena, Pablo Ortiz and Jeffrey Ortega.
