Bonnie Jean Battles, 78, of Melrose, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at her home.
She was born May 21, 1927, in Grand Island, Neb., to Walter and Effie May Williams.
She owned and operated an antique Store in Melrose for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Melrose.
Family members said she enjoyed playing bingo and was a caring person, opening her home to the many cats and dogs she loved so dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Battles; two brothers, Rex and Roy Williams; five sisters, Isabelle Hawkens, Rosella Conroy, Dolly Drussell, and infant sisters June and Jewel Williams.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Otho Rogers will officiate services.
She donated her body to the University of New Mexico Medical and Science Department.
