Jeffrey J. Brown, 57, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, in Punta Gorda, Fla., following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 1, 1948, in Portales to J.J. and Betty Brown. A 1966 from Portales High graduate, he attended Eastern New Mexico University from 1966 to 1967, and graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock in 1972 with an architectural degree.
He was a partner of Brown Reynolds Watford Architects, Inc. of Dallas, which was established in 1984. He retired from the firm in 2005 and moved to Punta Gorda, Fla.
Family members said he enjoyed sailing and was an active member of the United Congregational Church of Christ in Punta Gorda, singing in the choir and teaching Bible study classes in his home.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his father, a sister Jenifer (and husband, Albert) Baca of Portales; two nieces, Andrea Bell (Robert) of Clovis and Amanda Baca of Portales; a great-niece, Breanna, and great-nephew, Ashton Bell, of Clovis.
The family suggests donations be made to the Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL, 34238 or to any Hospice center.
Arrangements are by Kays Ponger Funeral home of Punta Gorda, Fla.
