Glenda Maxcine Cook Russell, 84, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born July 19, 1921, in Electra, to Sam and Addie Cook. She was raised and educated in Portales with four brothers and three sisters. She married John Wayne Russell on Jan. 6, 1941, and was widowed in March of 1973. She was Homecoming Queen at Eastern New Mexico University in 1948. She worked for Carmack and Sons in Clovis until they closed. She was a PEO sister and an active member of Central Christian Church.
Family members said she loved to play bridge with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Bonnie Cook Cooper, Edna Cook McKinez and Lorena Bouseman; and brothers, Curtis Cook and Clyde Cook.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam Whitehead (and husband, Mike) of Redding, Calif.; son, Rusty Russell (Connie) of Clovis; brothers, Cecil Cook of Portales and Chester Cook of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Shay Westfall, Robert Scarbrough, Arron Whitehead, Scott Whitehead, Cody Russell, Casey Russell, Tyrel Russell and Holly Reiser; and great-grandchildren, Riley Westfall, Josh Westfall, Molly Westfall and Tristian Russell.
Rev. Michael Johnston will officiate with Don Abernathy assisting.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Tyrel Russell, Jim Broome, Don Abernathy, Stan Pipkin, Mike Whitehead and Rusty Russell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Portales.
