Willie Fern Williams, 95, of Portales died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at the Farwell Convalescent Center.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1911, in Wheatland to Chelcie and Bertie Cogdill. She married Jim A. Williams on Sept. 16, 1928, and they lived in Clovis. They later moved to Portales in their retirement years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two children, Kathryn Fay and James Altus.
She was the manager for the S&H Greenstamp store in Clovis and an active member of the American Business Women’s Association.
Family members said she led an interesting life with many talents, including sewing and an cooking.
She is survived by her brother, Hershel Cogdill; five grandchildren, Jim Williams, Michelle Williams, Marcia Howard, Brad Young and Sondra Young-Wick; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie Williams and Nash Young; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Farwell Convalescent Center.
