William James “Bill” Fletcher Jr., 58, a longtime Alamogordo resident, died Friday, March 31, 2006 in Sanford, Fla.
Born May 14, 1947, in Beyonne, N. J., he grew up in Puerto Rico. His 22-year service in the U.S. Air Force included a tour of duty during the Vietnam War. In 1989, he retired as a master sergeant at Cannon Air Force Base. He was a member of the Curry County Sheriff’s Posse and a detention officer for Curry and Otero counties, and worked for the city of Alamogordo. Family members said he was a man of faith in the Lord, and loved motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his father, William James Fletcher Sr., and his first wife, Theresa “Terry” Fletcher.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Fletcher; three sons, Michael Fletcher of Pensacola, Fla., Larry Blades (and wife, Kim) of Meeker, Okla., and Jason Bowermeister of Alamogordo; four daughters, Wendy Fletcher of Amarillo, Jamie Garcia (Joe) of Portales, Rebecca Walker (Rick) of San Antonio, Texas, and Lindsey Bowermeister of Alamogordo; five grandsons, Ridge, Christian, Skyler, Hayden and Andrew; six granddaughters, Jordan, Bryanna, Makyelah, Kyrissa, Katie and Gracie; his mother, Georgia Fletcher, of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Don Lambert (Fran) of Rockledge, Fla., and Jim Lambert (Terri) of Syskesville, Md., and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pastor Robert Smith will officiate services. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery with military honors by the Holloman Air Force Base Honor Guard.
