Police Chief says he’s doing well
Clovis Police Chief Bill Carey is recovering after suffering a minor heart April 20 and expects to return to work soon.
“I’m doing very well. I will be back to work very quickly,” Carey said Saturday by telephone.
“It was a minor procedure, and I’m recovering very well,” Carey said. “I want to thank everybody for their prayers and thoughts, cards and flowers,” he added.
Carey declined to say exactly when he would resume his duties.
He became chief of police in December 2001 when Ray Mondragon stepped down from the position, according to Clovis News Journal archives.
