The driver of a truck involved in a fatal two-vehicle accident July 24 near Pleasant Hill was cited last week for a moving traffic violation, according to the Curry County Sheriff’s Department.

John Folsom, 29, failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of N.M. 77 and N.M. 108, Curry County Undersheriff Doug Bowman said.

George Lopez, 48, of Clovis died in the late-night collision. Lopez, who was driving a Pontiac Grand Am, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bowman said he does not anticipate criminal charges will be filed in the case.
Folsom was driving a truck owned by Milk Transport Services when the collision occurred.

A representative for Milk Transport Services of Portales declined to comment on the accident.

Folsom received non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Plains Regional Medical Center, according to police.
