LOS LUNAS — Angel Fernandez scored with the help of an assist from Luis Esparza in the 30th minute on Thursday and the Clovis High boys soccer team managed a 1-1 tie with Los Lunas.

The match was halted with about 14 minutes left due to rain and lightning in the area.

The Wildcats (3-1-1) outshot the Tigers 19-7 for the game. Clovis goalkeeper Josh Bussen was credited with five saves.

Los Lunas (1-1-1) managed its goal late in the first half.

“We were attacking,” CHS coach Shaun Gill said. “We had two balls that bounced off (the goalposts), but we controlled the pace of the game.”

A junior varsity contest was cancelled due to the weather.
