PANHANDLE, Texas — Senior running back Matthew Hill rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries and Quanah got what proved to be the winning score on a blocked punt return for a touchdown Saturday to edge Bovina 28-21 in a Texas Class 1A Division 1 bi-district playoff game.

The Indians (7-4) advance to meet Sunray, which had a first-round bye, in a regional round game next weekend.

Other than Hill, Quanah did little on offense. The indians did not complete a pass in the game and were outgained 307-260 by the Mustangs (8-3).

Quanah defeated Bovina 19-8 in a first-round game last year and reached the quarterfinal round before bowing out.

Alfie Espinoza, Frank Martinez and Trent Quintana had touchdown runs for Bovina. Mauricio Garcia led the Mustangs on the ground with 106 yards on 13 carries, while Jesus Rocha caught two passes from Quintana for 93 yards.
