Local Roundup: Police pursuit recovers drugs

Police seized approximately 10 ounces of methamphetamine and crack cocaine along with 14 ounces of marijuana early Tuesday morning following a vehicle and foot pursuit, according to a Clovis Police Department press release.

Police arrested Juan Ramirez, 23, of Clovis and charged him with three counts of possession with intent to distribute and possession of stolen property, according to the press release.

Ramirez was located in the area of Thornton Street and Las Casillas Boulevard after the vehicle in which he was traveling crashed and he took off on foot, according to police.

During a search of the vehicle, approximately nine ounces of methamphetamine, 14 ounces of marijuana, one ounce of crack cocaine, and a stolen gun were recovered, according to police.

Ramirez was being held Tuesday at the Curry County Adult Detention Center on a $58,000 bond, according to jail officials.

A new surgery center is officially open, according to a press release.

The Surgery Center of Eastern New Mexico performs eye, orthopedic, gynecological, general, endoscopic, podiatry, and breast procedures, according to the press release from center Administrator Casey McFarland.

The center is located at 2421 W. 21st St.

It utilizes one operating suite, one procedure room, personalized recovery areas and family waiting rooms, the release reads.
