Children: 3
Special circumstances: “Ms. W” just got custody of her grandchildren and times are a little hard right now for the family.

Her holiday hopes: To have presents under the tree for her grandchildren.
Clothing needs: Boys pants size 5, boys shirt size 5, boys shoe size children’s 10. Girls pants sizes 24 months and 9 to 12 months, girls shirt size 24 months and 9 to 12 months, girls shoe size 5T and 3.
Toys list: Age-appropriate learning toys and a riding toy for an 8-month-old.
The Empty Stocking Fund is a joint effort of the Salvation Army and the Clovis News Journal and Portales News-Tribune. Recipients receive gifts and clothes for their children and baskets of food with green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes and a meat voucher from a local grocery store. Larger families will receive donated turkeys instead of the voucher. The food baskets will also go to seniors on fixed incomes.

Who’s helped: Around 500 families who’ve asked the Salvation Army to help make Christmas special.

Donations: Can be dropped off at the CNJ, 521 Pile St., Envelopes should be clearly marked “Empty Stocking Fund.”
Contributions will be forwarded to the Salvation Army office, 317 E. Second St.
