An Air Force Special Operations Command team will arrive Sunday at Cannon Air Force Base to gather information for the imminent transfer of Cannon ownership to AFSOC, according to an AFSOC spokesperson.

“Everybody on the team is a subject matter expert who will look at the issues and challenges regarding the base transfer,” said Capt. Tom Montgomery, AFSOC public affairs officer.

About 45 to 50 team members will study Cannon’s infrastructure for roughly a week, Montgomery said.

AFSOC assumes ownership of Cannon Oct. 1.

The 27th Fighter Wing currently at Cannon will be disbanded. Cannon’s F-16s will be sent to various installations across the country.
